Pierce’s Pitt Bar-B-Que Voted Best in Virginia

Pierce's Pitt Bar-B-Que Voted Best in VirginiaWhere can you find the best barbeque in Virginia? Southern Living Magazine says it is right here at Pierce’s Pitt Bar-B-Que on the outskirts of Williamsburg. The magazine recently made the announcement in the South’s Best 2022 issue, naming the best barbeque available in each Southern state.

In the process of celebrating more than 50 years in the business, Pierce’s has long been a popular favorite of locals and tourists alike. It started in 1971 with “Doc” and Verdie Pierce providing a quick pulled pork sandwich through walk-up windows on what used to be the main highway to and from Richmond to the Peninsula.

Today, Interstate 64 runs past its front door, but that has not diminished the popularity of what has become known in some social media circles as a “Virginia Tradition.” While you can still order take-out at the one of inside registers, Pierce’s is now being operated as a sit-down restaurant that also has a large outside area with picnic tables. The restaurant is located between the interstate exits of Camp Peary and Route 199 on 447 East Rochambeau Drive.
